Hello my pretties! *cackles*
And that is where my Wizard of Oz references end, because I'm not that clever.
ANYWAY - I have news!
So remember a few weeks ago when I told you about my second book? LUSTSTRUCK? Well, LUSTSTRUCK is no longer LUSTSTRUCK. It has a new title, but I thought instead of telling it to you, I'd SHOW YOU!
TAKE A LOOK AT THE PRETTY!
So, the new title, as you can see, is SHUT OUT. And this, my dear, is the cover! Well, it's the ARC cover, so it may change between now and the release this September, but this is pretty close to the final. Isn't it pretty???? I'm so in love with this freakin' fierceness!
So I'm thrilled about this new title personally. I think it really captures the feel of the book, and it goes SO WELL with this cover!
To refresh your memory, SHUT OUT is a story about Lissa, a senior in high school, who decides to put an end to a decade old rivalry between her school's football and soccer teams after her quarterback boyfriend ditches her a few too many times on behalf of hazing the other team. Her plan is to start a sex strike - gathering the girlfriends of all the players of both teams and agreeing that none of them will hookup with their boyfriends until the rivalry is over. What follows is an all out battle of the sexes as the girls begin to explore issues of teen sexuality and the boys attempt to seducethe girls into breaking their oath. Lissa is determined to win, but she never expects the sexual tension that rises between she and Cash Sterling, a member of the soccer team and leader of the boys' side.
I love the title SHUT OUT because, really, that's what the girls are doing! They are shutting the boys out.
But, with all these goodies, I have ANOTHER little treat for you. I just got the go ahead to share the first snippet of SHUT OUT with YOU! So, right here, is a little excerpt from my second novel. I am SO EXCITING for you guys to read the whole thing, but for now, I just have to share a little bit with you!
So here's a sneak peak of SHUT OUT - a little snippet where Lissa first comes up with her big plan! ENJOY!
Randy disentangled himself from me and kicked off the comforter that was spread over us. I watched as he climbed off my bed and moved to button his jeans.
“Where are you going?” I sat up and searched for my shirt in the sheets. Suddenly, I felt too exposed, too vulnerable.
“Shane wants me to meet up with him in the old Fifth Street parking lot. Some soccer idiots wanna start shit with us because of that freshman who hurt himself. I think it’ll be a good fight.”
“You’re ditching me to go fight with soccer players?” I asked, incredulously. I yanked my t-shirt over my head and turned to stare at him. “I thought you were trying to prove that I came first.”
“I did,” he said. “I came here first, didn’t I? I could’ve gone straight to the fight, but I came to see my girl.” He walked over to me and leaned down, kissing me on the cheek. “And we had a good time, right?”
“No, you had a good –”
“I’ll call you later,” he said. “I was here longer than I expected to be – not that I’m complaining, but Shane’s waiting on me. I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you.”
He tried to kiss me again, but I jerked away.
Randy sighed and shook his head. “Don’t be like this, Lissa,” he said, then he turned and walked out of my bedroom door.
I started to go after him. I jumped out of bed, momentarily determined to give him a piece of my mind, but stopped in the doorway. I took a deep breath and forced it all back, forced myself to stay in control.
But a minute later – as the front door slammed downstairs and the sound of Randy walking toward his car on the corner street wafted up through my window – I knew this was the last time I would be left behind for this war. I had to do something about it. Put a stop to the stupidity. Get Randy out of this trap he was in. For him. For both of us.
And I knew just how to do it.
And that's it! Hope you liked it! If so, the book is out this September! WOOOOOO!!!
