Answering Your Questions

Hey guys!

So since I've decided to start blogging at least once a week, I'm going to need some things to blog about. And since I typically fail at ideas, I thought I'd ask you guys for suggestions.

So I'm going to answer your questions. Feel free to ask anything - about reading, about writing, about my books, or even about TV or cooking or fashion or NYC. I'm a (mostly) open book. So if you have a question, feel free to post it in the comments of this post. Ask one or ten, whatever. I'll get to answering them in upcoming posts.

In the meantime, to make this post better, here's a puppy!

That's a puggle! A pug/beagle mix. Adorbs, right? *snuggles the puggle*

What got you on that country music craze a few weeks ago? What kind of music do you usually like? Do you play an instrument, or wish you could? If you could see any band live, who would it be?

How was your high school experience? Was it like the characters in your books, Bianca's or Lissa's, or completely different?

If you were to branch out of contemporary YA, which genre would you want to try out? Or do you already write another genre?

Hey Kody -

I would love to read about your revision process - how you tackle big and little changes. Thanks!

Hi Kody, love your books and they have a proud place on my bookcase :)

I wanted to ask, since I'm not from US, but from Czech Rep. if the way you described all the girls in your books whether it is partially your personal experience. I don't ask about the storyline as much as about the way the what are the characters like. In many YA books there is always the Queen B, some mean girls, who make living hell for the other less popular girls. But this element in your books is missing and I kinda like it. It is not so predictable as it is in many other books. So since you graduated from high school pretty recently, you should still have the accurate information on whether one can go through HS without being abused by the popular crowd.

Hi Kody, I would like to hear some more about your revision process and other aspects of your writing process. It would also be fun to hear about some of the books you are reading and/or books that inspire you.

Hi Kody!
Greetings from Sweden!
I have often been wondering how much is actually revised or edited from the original text before a book is published?
I mean, how much of your own voice and writing style is left after the publishers have had their say?
And have you met any other teen writers? Is there anyone you know of, who is under sixteen right now? The only ones I know of who were pretty young when they were published are Alexandra Adornetto and Nancy Yi Fan. But what I wonder is if there are any recent debuts you know of.
Sorry, that was a whole lot more than I was planning to ask!

Take care!

I have two things.

One- how do you name your characters?

Two- What was it like writing a book in high school? Did other people think it was weird, or were they proud of you? And what did your teachers say?

Thanks so much!

-Meredith :)

I just borrowed SHUT OUT from my friend and I loved it soooo much. Also I was wondering what do you think happens to Lissa and Cash afterwards, and the girls and Randy?
